Is there an age restriction for the use of services?
No, we welcome everyone who needs help.
Concerning medical needs associated with pregnancy and birth, how does this center help women obtain that care? (Post-pregnancy test and ultrasound)
We are partnered with Orange County Health Department, which takes our written confirmation of the result of the pregnancy test as proof of pregnancy. This allows the woman to receive emergency Medicare for pregnant women. That will get her the medical treatment she needs.
Is couples counseling for both married and unmarried couples?
We do not offer couple counseling or marital counseling. We do counsel on the relationship as it pertains to the pregnancy. We recommend they would talk to their pastor if they go to church or we offer referrals to counseling services available in the community.
Is there counseling or services available for men?
Yes, we offer a peer mentoring program so that men can talk to and be counseled by men regarding life issues. We offer referral services for counseling for both men and women if the issues require professional services.
Once it's discovered that I am pregnant, what options are discussed with me at the center?
The center will present all options to the client, including the decision to parent, put the child up for adoption, maternity foster care and abortion. We talk about these four options with the client and explore how the client feels about each option, what resources are available and the good and bad consequences of each option. We want the client to have all the information available to them to make the best decision they can. We also counsel about resources available for the consequences of their decisions. For example, if a client chooses to have an abortion, we want her to know that we will help her if she is struggling with her decision and that we offer a post-abortive Bible study, if she needs it.
Does the facility work directly with an adoption agency?
We offer referrals to adoption agencies if the client chooses an adoption plan. We do not work directly with any adoption agency because we do not want to have the apperance of a bias for the client's decision other than for them not choosing abortion. We initially refer to Florida Baptist Children's Home for adoptions because of the standard of care they demonstrate for both the birth mother and the adoptive parents. We have other agenices on a referral list for the client as well.
Is there counseling for sexually assaulted or rape victims?
Yes, however, we refer for counseling services for individual as well as group counseling programs that are offered in our community.
How does confidentiality of the center work?
We are very serious about maintaining the confidentiality of the client. The files are under lock and key at all times. We only ask for first names when making appointments, and we never contact a client without their permission. The only time confidentiality would be broken is if a crime were committed and we were required to report that crime.
What should I expect when I'm pregnant?
Are parenting classes offered?
We offer an entire program called the LIFE Program. Life stands for Living Word, which includes Bible studies, Inspire, which includes one on one Life coaching classes, Family, which includes parenting classes and Education, which includes child birth education, first aid, nursing, etc. We want to continue to grow this program to address as many issues that face our clients as possible.
Are maternity clothes, diapers, strollers, food and other resources available to clients?
Are there after-pregnancy care options? What are the limits to your resources provided?
Financially, there are obvious limits to what the center can provide. We want to help the client up to two years after the child is born. We will offer maternal needs in exchange for the client's participation in our LIFE program. As for the client, I believe the resources offered by us or the agencies we partner with, offer them opportunities to make more informed and possible better decisions about their life.
Does the facility work with a daycare?
Can the center aid women in finding jobs and/or housing?
We offer referral services for both housing and jobs.
